The New Year Beckons,
...From the joy of celebrating the birth of Jesus and the coming of God into the world, we are excited and thrilled to face the New Year 2010 and many challenges that the New Year will bring. The Council of Churches of the City of New York, as we have seen 114 New Years since our inception, is pleased to send yet another best wishes and prayers for the adventure that the New Year will be.
...The New Year will certainly be full of challenges. The current global economic crisis will be tough for everyone to face along with many other great obstacles. We as Christians are called upon to deeper devotion and larger commitment at every step of the way.
Being the Church of Jesus Christ, we are sent by our Savior into the world with the Good News of His coming and presence. May we do it with more energy than ever before! With so much pain and hurt in people¡¯s lives, it is time for us all to reach out with the Gospel of hope and deliverance.
...Let us look for ways to emulate the generosity of God by looking for ways we can give to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves always giving thanks for the abundant blessings we already have received even if we may often forget them. Let us be content and joyful always celebrating the wondrous miracle of our Lord and Savior in our life every day. Furthermore, let us joyfully share even the smallest gift we have already received freely following our Lord¡¯s footsteps. Let us boldly proclaim the Gospel in everything that we do. It is up to us, as devoted and faithful disciples of Jesus to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Let us declare with heart, hand and voice the words of the angel who came to Mary to declare the coming of the baby Jesus as the ¡°good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.¡±(Luke 2:10)
May God guide you and bless you in the New Year.
