Rev. Dr. A. R. Bernard, Sr.
President

Welcome to The Council of Churches of the City of New York.

Jesus is the Christ. The Son of the living God! He lived and died, and is alive again. Christ Jesus is our savior, brother and friend. He is the only way to salvation and was sent to the "lost sheep" to show us the way and deliver us from our sins. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

God has called us for such a special time as this, to do His will, to spread the Gospel to the entire world and to live in the example of Christ’s life on this earth. We are called to be disciples. We are called to be evangelists. We care called to grow in our relationship with Christ and to bring others to Christ.

The Council of Churches of the City of New York is answering the call. Our Council is growing to meet the spiritual needs of the people, the community and the world.

Our history as the oldest ecumenical organization in the United States established in 1815 as the Brooklyn Mission Society attests to the vital ministries the Council has carried thus far. Our pioneering methods of taking census in 1900 to better serve the new born nation was later adopted by the Federal Government as the standard method of national census. Recently we have worked with the City of New York securing $600 million for affordable housing budget. We have helped rebuild the City after the 9/11 tragedy through direct and indirect assistance programs. We have made countless improvements to the City and the Nation. We have spoken on behalf of the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the powerless and the have-nots. But we do all of the above in the Spirit of the Lord following His teachings to first proclaim God’s love for the world.

God so loved the world that he gave his only son Jesus Christ. Whosoever believes Him will inherit eternal life. I commission you, church, to study the Word and witness to the Glory of God in your lives. Praise Him and worship! Let's pray together for another glorious year of doing God's work.

In the Spirit of Christ, Rev. Dr. A. R. Bernard, Sr - President

Executive Director

One Mercedes Benz TV commercial shows their car colliding with a cement wall during a safety test. Someone then asks the company spokesman why they do not enforce their patent on the Mercedes Benz’s energy-absorbing car body, a design evidently copied by other companies because of its success. He replies matter-of-factly, “Because some things in life are too important not to share.” The good news of Jesus Christ is too important not to share. The good news that we are loved and called to love each other is too important not to share. The good news that we belong to one family is too important not to share. We, members of one family in Christ, are called to an ethical and moral accountability. We are called to serve God and the people by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick and comforting the afflicted. We are empowered by God to do the tasks that we are called for.

WWW.CCCNY Net is the home of the Council of Churches of the City of New York in which we lift up the work and celebrate people of faith who have shown, by their words and deeds, a commitment for the City of New York and for the world. In our website we lift up the ministries and people that demonstrate their faith as loving examples. WWW.CCCNY.NET here because some things in life are too important not to share.

In Jesus Christ, Rev. Dr. Jimmy Seong G. Lim
